If you’ve ever thought you were alone in your money journey you’re absolutely not. I’ve been exactly where you are I’ve made a ton of money mistakes, which I’m sure you’re tired of hearing about lol so today I’m going to be interviewing Ceray who is a member of The Young Yet Wise Society my paid monthly membership. Here’s what we’ll be chatting about
Why she decided to join, what were some of her money mistakes she made before being a member +( how she fixed them) , and what she enjoys about being in the group.
#1 What was your life like before joining the Young Yet Wise Society (YYWS)? What were the biggest mistakes you were making in your money?
Before joining the YYWS I didn’t have a plan for my money I felt like I was really unstructured. Some really bad habits I had were going shopping first and going out to eat first without a plan and then I would think about my responsibilities afterwards. My priorities were out of wack, I was shopping at Forever 21, Primark ect.
#2 What made you decide to join the YYWS and did you have any hesitations about joining?
I feel like i joined really because I wanted some structure I just wanted to feel more in control of my money and before I was kind of all over the place so I really wanted some structure.
My hesitation probably was I can do this myself. Like I can figure out how to like manage my money, I don’t need help with this I can do it myself. Why should I pay someone else to do something you know when I can just struggle thorough it and eventually get to figuring it out. But then I was like Whoa Ceray let’s be real, let’s look at all of those beauty subscriptions you have. You have Ipsy, I had pop Sugar box, which is like $40.00 a month and then I had another box you know I just had all these beauty subscription boxes and I was like well I have no problem spending money on those things, but when it comes down to personal development and you know getting my money together I’m like Oh no I can’t spend my money on that.
You put money towards things that you value, and I value myself, I value my growth, I want to see my money grow so I was like I have to invest this money into myself.I just wanted to feel more in control of my money and before I was kind of all over the placeClick To Tweet
#3 what’s your favorite part about being a Young Yet Wise Society member?
I really feel like I just love everything about the YYWS membership. I really love the sense of community, I love logging into Facebook and seeing all these inspirational quotes about money, I love being able to go to the private group on Facebook and type something that I”m struggling with and being able to get advice from the other members to help me out. I love the courses I love that we get to watch a video and learn some thing new about saving and investing,
There’s so many things I love our video chats that we have on Sundays that we can talk about our money wins our struggles and it’s also just a way for us to stay accountable to our goals and that’s another part I like about the membership is that we get to set these 3 goals and we have our members to help us to stay accountable to those goals. I guess I just like every part of the membership .
#4 what has been your transformation since joining the YYWS, also what are some of the goals that you’ve achieved already?
- I was about to pay off $918 off one of my student loans, so now one of my loans is totally knocked out and I fully paid that so that’s great.
- I was able to pay off a $500 credit card bill so there’s no debt on that card anymore. I remember having to go to my brother’s wedding and then receiving the credit card bill and just sharing in our private Facebook group about how I wasn’t expecting such a large bill and just felt discouraged about not being able to reach my other money goals anymore. If it had not been for the group’s encouragement I probably would of just paid the min. amount on my debt and start slacking on my other money goals, but because of the group I didn’t give up I stayed on track and paid off the credit card bill.
- I was also able to purchase a blogging course. One of my biggest goals was to be able to purchase as course where I could learn some new skills to put back into my blogging business.
- And some savings, even with doing those 3 major goals I was still able to put away some dollars in my savings account.
#5 Let’s say a friend were to give you a call and ask you if they should join the YYWS what would you tell them?
I would say listen you have 6 Nars lipsticks and $0 in the bank, you need to get your life together, you need a money plan, you need guidance, you need support, you need to join and really start making those moves into bettering yourself. Since joining the YYWS even my decision making around money has changed.
Before I use to spend a lot of money on shopping and going out. That was my main priority and now of course I have fun money that I add to my budget, but I’m really selective about how I spend that fun money. Now I’m not spending it all on one dinner at someplace really nice I’m really thinking about my choices with my money. I use to be a yes person, yes to brunch, yes to the bar, but now I’m more selective and more wise with my money. (Young Yet Wise :p ) I’m still happy, I’m still me, it’s just that now I have this healthy balance of I’m paying my bills, I’m investing, I’m saving, I’m meeting my money goals, but I am still having fun.
There you have it ladies and gentlemen if you’re reading this and can relate to the old Ceray join The Young Yet Wise Society to get back on track with your money goals.
