Girl, I tried Martha Stewart’s Meal box service Marley & Spoon | Review

I feel extra fancy even telling ya’ll that I signed up for Martha Stewart’s Meal box service Marley & Spoon, but I feel even fancier when the box arrives at my door. Below is a short version of what I think of Marley & Spoon for a more in depth review be sure to watch the video below.

What is Marley & Spoon?

“Martha & Marley Spoon sends the recipes of your choice and the fresh, pre-portioned ingredients you need to cook them directly to your door, so you can enjoy something new and delicious any night of the week.”

Why did you even decide to sign up for Marley & Spoon?

I decided to sign up because I was tired of cooking the same old meals every week. Baked chicken, broccoli and half a sweet potato. My taste buds were like girl, no. We need more flavor. I wanted a convenient way to try new foods that didn’t require me spending time looking on Pinterest and then searching through the grocery store for all of the ingredients.

How was the food? ( be honest)

The food was actually really good, and super flavorful. I really felt like I was on my own cooking show cutting up all the ingredients and learning to cook new meals I wouldn’t have thought of on my own. Since I’ve been incorporating more meatless meals into my diet I loved how Marley and Spoon has an option for vegetarians. So far my favorite meatless meal has been the chickpea tango tacos. Who would who think to have a taco with chickpeas, peppers, carrots, parsley and lots of flavor?

I would usually order one meal with meat and another meal without. Since I signed up for the 2 meals a week it would usually end up stretching to 4 meals since i’m just eating for one.

I also love how the recipes not only came with written instructions, but they also included photos of each step, since I’m a visual person I found this helpful.

How much did it cost?

I admit if you’re on a super strict budget Marley & Spoon may not be for you.

I signed up for the 2 meals per week option which costs $48.00. When I signed up they had a deal where you’ll get $15.00 off your first 3 meals bringing my weekly cost to $33.00 a week. I’m use to spending $45-50 a week on my groceries which tend to last me the entire week.

When my mom asked me how much the service costs she shook her head. “That’s all the food you get, Candice? Do you know what I could buy with that money.”  She is right you can buy a lot more for $48.00 a week depending on where you shop, however you’re paying for the packaging, the shipping, the convenience, and the name.

Did you find it convenient?

As I mentioned above I enjoyed choosing which 2 recipes I wanted delivered each week, and I also enjoyed not having to go to the grocery store as much, but some days I still found myself not wanting to cook. If I’m going to pay for food to be delivered I don’t want to have to cook it. I want it to be cooked already and the only thing I have to do is wash my hands and sit down to eat.

I believe that money can buy you happiness and convenience does make you happier in the long run.

Overall Marley and Spoon is a great service. The food is really good, and the new recipes are meals that you can cook over and over again without getting bored. While cooking the food you do feel like you’re a chef, and when you warm up your food in the office your coworkers will be impressed. If you want to try Marley & Spoon for yourself to cook some new meals you can sign up here and cancel at anytime.
