Hi guys! I got tagged and a money tag from my friend Tony who is a YouTuber over at Love, Daring Greatly. today I’ll be answering those money questions centered around how I’m able to save money and live on less.
The first question is “What are the most important frugal things you do every day to save money?”
Well, I freelance at an ad agency probably eighteen to twenty hours a week. Working in a creative field, in advertising field, I feel it saves me money because I don’t have to dress up for work every day. I don’t have to buy work clothes and some days I get to work from home so I don’t even have to buy, wear anything if I want to.
There’s also a lot of free snacks and free coffee available so that kind of saves me money. Yeah, I think that’s what I’m going to say. Working in a creative space part time—even if when I was doing a full time, I never had to dress up. That really helps save me money.
Question number two is, “How do you save money on utilities?”
That is a great question. I live at home. I don’t really worry about utilities. I still pay my mother rent but it’s not huge amount that people would normally pay if I live in Boston if I was living on my own. Not sure how I save money on utilities. I just give my mom the money and she uses to pay whatever she wants to pay.
Living in that home is really what’s helped me being able to pay my debt faster, being able to invest my money and save more money. I’m grateful to be living in that home. Ain’t no shame over here.
Question number three How do I save on food?”
There’s this store and not too far from my house called the Daily Table and it was created to help people be able to buy affordable food that is healthy for you. Usually, a lot of my meals come from the Daily Table because I get it out of great price and it’s healthy. I also sneak in a few days of having meatless meals because meat can be super expensive. Sometimes I cut back on my grocery bill by not buying meat.
Question number four, “What is your best tip to save on clothes?”
I save money on clothes because I just work out. I feel like when I hit the gym and my body looks good, I could throw on whatever. I can go to the thrift store and buy clothes for two dollars and it won’t matter because my body looks good and so I’m going to look good no matter. I’m really a person that’s tied to brands. That is how I save money.
Question number five “What is the best strategy to stay out of debt or pay down debt?”
I think the strategy is the snowball method. Even just realizing how much debt you have is something that helped me and giving myself a goal, and also balancing investing with that goal and saving money with that goal because every dime I have doesn’t go towards my debt because I still want to grow my net worth.
I feel like having an accountability people would have to check in with .I like to create a lot of accountability groups and challenges around money so to make paying off debt fun. Sometimes paying off debt all alone could be boring.
I created a various different challenges and I just launched the Young Yet Wise Society which is an accountability membership for women to help us reach our finances to help us flourish in the money department. If you’re struggling paying money alone, be sure to sign up for the Young Yet Wise Society.
